The Supplement Industry

Supplement Reviews

So I've been in the loop lately that a new upcoming website is being launched about supplement reviews. The webmaster is a credible source with a background knowledge of the supplement industry. A tried and tested individual of the products. The new website will have sufficient and reliable supplement reviews that will certainly provide you, the user a great insight into the product and what it contains.

Pre-Workout Supplements

There are many pre-workout supplements on the market to aid you in your goals to increase muscle mass, or to just increase your strength performance. Such supplements like creatine, which has its theories on when it should be taken. Many say it should be taken 30 minutes before you train, others are advocates of taking it 12 hours before you train.

The supplement industry has grown so substantially that, manufactures have developed a large majority of energy driven pre-workout supplements like Craze by Driven Sports and Jack3d by USP Labs. Both have similar effects to give you a "pump" and "buzz" in the gym. These are typically taken

Post Workout Supplements

Post workout supplements come in the form of protein powder. Many of people have their opinions on protein powder and when to take it. To figure out the best protein powder depends on your objective. Do you want to meet your macro-nutrients, or will you do what ever it takes to get bigger by consuming vast amounts of calories per day.

How you can avoid over eating this Xmas

The main thing to consider when thinking about Christmas is how much food am I going to consume. When I think of Christmas these days I no longer think of presents and snow, I only think about how much food I will eat. This post will be short and sweet, it will give you tips to reduce the amount you eat and drink over the Xmas period.

The turkey, the Yorkshire puddings, the stuffing, the roast potatoes, the chocolates, the biscuits, the beer, the wine, the buffet! I am sure you will consume exactly what I have written. I am the same, I probably will consume the majority of the things on that list. The difference is that I will not consume large quantities of food or alcohol. If you want to maintain your physique this Christmas then I strongly suggest you eat what you like because after all, it is Christmas after all, but do so in smaller quantities.

The one thing I have learnt about losing weight or gaining muscle, is a quote which is commonly known but not often applied. "Everything in moderation."

So there you have it. I'm not asking you to give up your holiday season and continue eating like a rabbit or like a lion. It's Christmas, it comes once a year. Eat what you like, just eat in moderation.

Summer: Healthy Barbecue

Whether you have a goal for the summer to lose weight or just want to lead a healthy lifestyle… A barbecue is bound to be one highlight or something to look forward to during summer, or you just happen to get invited to. The typical British celebration for a hot day, which consists of high calorie indulging foods and beverages such as burgers, beers, Pimms, wine, shish kebabs and so on.

Opportunism at its worst when peer pressure plays a part, friends wondering why you are not involving yourself with the good spirits of alcohol and food. This can be often hard to answer or a repetitive cycle of the same explanation. Obviously by this point IT IS the summer and this is what you have worked hard for, or is it? Can you honestly say you have been losing weight to please others and for it to have lead up to the point of one or two barbecues? No, the answer you are looking for is to please your own self-esteem and prolong your effects. Sure, you can take this an opportunity to embrace what you have worked hard for. If you have any dedication you will not give in to the temptation and see it as simply, another social gathering.
Having said all that, it is important that you treat yourself for your efforts with a tap on the back with whatever you like (but in the right way)

When attending a barbecue be sure to come prepared. If you are sure you can withstand the pressure of people drinking and being a little extra merry then follow my advice and you will be sure to succeed.

Firstly, think about what people will be drinking. Majority will be beer and a homemade cocktail such as Pimms and lemonade or vodka and coke and perhaps wine. All very high in calories and oozing in sugar. My suggestion is to make homemade lemonade or iced tea, yes it requires a little sugar but it will compensate the chemical alcoholic drink, and you will feel like you are fitting in more, of course if you drink water with ice this also gives the allusion to yourself and others you are being ‘social’.

Finally food - This one can be simple and effective. Think Shish kebab, cut up some chicken breast onto a skewer and add red green and yellow peppers, onions through some chilli’s on, add some olive oil and lemon juice at the end and you have your own barbecue ready  (nutritious, healthy and filling). High in protein and fibre with all the essential macro nutrients needed for one meal. You can even through some clean cashews and peanuts to add more healthy fats to the meal.

So there you have it. It’s very simple and quick when you think about it. All it requires is a little effect with a lot of dedication and you can enjoy a summer without guilt and regret. Those months of leading up to the summer do not need to be all for nothing. Persistence and dedication that’s all that is required.

Top Tips to Lose the Christmas Gut

The first thing you should do is start the day fresh, it’s no good beginning to remove the bloating and fat from your body half way through the day. Start the day fresh with the right frame of mind. Have in your mind how much weight you want to lose. Or simply, what you want to look like at the end of it. But do not let it end there, continue your meal plans for life, make it a lifestyle and not a ‘diet’. The term ‘diet’ is daunting and always has a time limit. A lifestyle, well that’s for life!

The first top tip which is fundamental in any type of quick fix to remove any unwanted weight is to drink about a gallon of water a day for about a week which is around 4.5 Litres ; this will remove any retained water acquired from simple sugars, salt, alcohol and fatty foods. The body becomes dehydrated from the overdosing of bad toxins within the food that it has to hold onto excess water. If you drink the required amount of water a week, this will release that retained water your body is holding onto which will ultimately remove excess weight.

Another top tip is to not have any carbohydrates after 4pm. Digesting your carbohydrates before that time will allow your body to be free of resting carbohydrates in the body when resting at night. You will feel slimmer and less bloated in the morning just by reducing your carb intake.

Eat a lot of vegetables in meals. You can eat as many vegetables as you like without worrying about gaining a pound. They have virtually zero calories and very high in fibre. Foods high in fibre keep you fuller for longer, so you won’t have a craving for more food in a short space of time.

Eat protein. Protein has been proven to reduce fat due to the high protein content within the produce. A lean protein such as fish, chicken and turkey are great. They are low in fat and high in protein.

Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. This will metabolise your body into a fat burning state. Not getting enough sleep will cause your body to hold on to fat. So rest is essential to losing fat.

Do exercise. Strength training is a great method to increase your metabolism, and of course the higher the metabolism the more calories you burn. Possibly the two best strength training exercises are the ‘clean and press’ and ‘deadlift’. The clean and press uses a vast amount of muscles from hamstrings to shoulders. So from head to toe muscle movement is a great metabolic booster and you increase strength stability along the way. The deadlift is similar to the clean and press without the press, burns fat and boosts metabolic rate.

I hope these tips help you through January. Before you know it you will be back to your usual self. If you are committed to a healthy lifestyle you will continue to eat, exercise and sleep well throughout the year.
